Did just what you said.

The onion sack method did not work for me. I think it is because i have a low volume kayak, so i used partially inflated casks and filled up the spaces as best as i could. I have a string on each to pull them out and each string is knotted so as i know the order to get them out.

I have about 6 left in case of trouble.

I heard of one guy who kept a full cask in the back of his car. He said it was his "emergency tool kit". He explained that if he broke down he emptied his emergency tool kit, then he could not care less about the emergency! :)
