Re Aboriginal Atlatl.

I think it is called a Woomera and the spear is called a Kalq. There are many spears and I think they have different names.

Used a lot for catching fish these days.

I have real language problems, in fact i know nothing in aboriginal languages except place names. There are a large number of aboriginal languages, some of which have now died out.

My home town is called Cooranbong. It supposedly means "a place where the water trickles over the stones" (or something like that). I can not find anywhere locally like that.

A story goes that a guy was working at an American children's summer camp. They asked him to speak Australian which technically is English but he joined in the fun and a rattled off a dozen place names that had aboriginal origins. They were most impressed... I think he made up what the "sentence" meant.
