I get that point, but, my read of the instructions is that just the top and inside of the combing get glass, which was fine with me, since glassing/sanding the outside would be difficult (for me), with result that unglassed would certainly look better.

On the Pygmy Osprey, the only glass was on the top and bottom of the lip layer. Liking that bit of extra strength, I had gone ahead and glassed the bottom of the lip on the Shearwater.
