: Hi all,

: I'm planning to skin my first SOF kayak this weekend (yay!) and need to get
: some staples (and some PVC, but that's under control).

: Do I need stainless steel or galvanised or other specific stples (to prevent
: rusting)? S/steel has been recommended - but hard to get in the size of my
: staple gun. So just wondering about alternatives before I search too hard.

: Also, do people find a manual or electric stapler better? Or doesn't it
: matter?

: Thanks - pretty basic questions but it's all new to me, and I'm on a tight
: timeframe to allow me to take the kayak away with me in a week.

: Thanks,

If you're going to be using it on salt water, I'd want stainless or even monel staples, the galvanized ones will rust really quickly and plain still won't work long enough to install them.

I only use a manual (actually have a couple) stapler, the electric ones don't have the power to set staples into wood.
