The PVC skin I have at the moment is 0.012" or 0.1mm thick.

I am not sure how that compares to 20 gauge because one source I looked up suggested that 20 gauge was 0.020" or 0.5mm, which I understand is the usual weight people use.

Another source said 20 gauge was 0.032" or 0.8mm. It said 24 gauge was 0.020".

So I guess my skin is 1/5th the thickness that people normally use. It has lasted over 10 hours so far or about 70 kilometres or 45 miles.
It has given me enough information to confidently make a couple of minor modifications before I put on a more durable skin.

I like the clear skin, even if only because of the attention it attracts from other paddlers and spectators.
