: I do have a question about assembly. Tom uses a lot of glue and screw type
: construction and I'm wondering if anyone has used the traditional tie
: method for securing the chines to the stations. I don't have any interest
: in having hardware in my boat. I will grab some 1/4" dowels for
: tenons if necessary, but I suspect it's not.

Tom doesn't use screw and glue construction, at all. He advocated peg and glue, or lash and glue. These are covered in his wood frame construction menu.

Any screws he uses are removed once the epoxy cures, and replaced with pegs. Nowadays he seems to prefer lash and glue, in any case.

Tom also says that he's had a clear vinyl skinned boat going for at least a couple of years now.

Looking forward to seeing your pics!
