Thanks for all your comments and suggestions. Despite your best efforts, I have decided to go for a shortened Guillemot. Don't tell me I'm potty, Jan, the boss in doors tells me that every day.

I am going for reducing the stations from a centre 12" by 1/4" in each direction. I have redrawn the end sections and if I have it right this should only reduce the design displacement by about 6.5%. Having weighed myself at 157lb, and since like you Bill, long trips are not an option, a flask of coffee and packed lunch should do nicely, I don't think this will be a problem.
As I will in the main be in narrow creeks and don't have the coast of Maine or Lake Ontario to explore, I hope the shorter length and greater manouverability will be to my advantage. I'll let you know.

I am going for a stapleless build in 3/16" x 3/4" strips, narrower where necessary. I don't need hatches for loading but I'm putting in a pair to make sticking it all together a bit easier. I now have the forms set up on the strongback, so here goes nothing! I've been going through all the great tips for fitting out. Keep them comeing!

I did read somewhere that you need to find some problem with each boat you build to give an excuse for building the next one, anyway that's my excuse.
