: Hi Andy
: Thanks for the info. and picture. Hope I can get a build quality as good as
: yours looks.
: I have found a timber yard in Rochester Kent, just 25 miles up the road from
: me here in Tenterden.
: They have a good supply of W.R.cedar and Siberian larch in 18ft and 20ft
: 1" x5" boards. They will pull the stock out to let me select the
: best, so the question is, can I get away with 18ft lengths on a 17ft
: Guillemot or would I be safer with 20s?
: They will also plane to 3/4" thickness and deliver.
: They also have good stock of American ash, Tulipwood, Americam hard maple,
: American black walnut and American cherry.
: I have invested in some good grained pieces of each of these for accents and
: for paddle making.
: This is by no means the limit of their stock, I'll let you know what else
: tempts me as time goes on.
: A number of companies list West system epoxy, I am aware that an awful lot
: depends on the efficiecy of application, but will In need more than one
: 6kg pack of resin for a standard 17ft boat?

You don't necessarily need full length strips, personally I find them difficult to work with prefering partial strips. Still if you want them full length, the 18 footers will work fine.
