Can't have too many clamps for boatbuilding. For kayaks the generic spring clamps work fine and are cheap. All the big box lumber stores have them for about a buck each.

There is a yellow wood hot glue that is quite a big stronger than the generic stuff, Harbor Freight has it cheap.
