: I am currently building a guillemot and would like some other views. I have
: finished glassing the hull, separated deck and hull and glassed the inside
: of the deck. I am thinking that I will glass the outside of the deck and
: overlay the shear strips with a couple of inches glass instead of glassing
: the deck than connecting the two with a 2 inch strip of glass.
: Any thought on this methods would be appreciated.

An unglassed wood strip deck is very flexible, unlike the unglassed plywood of a stitch-n-glue boat.

Removing a totally unglassed deck from the stations risks breaking at the worst and deformation at the least. It is difficult enough to handle a deck glassed on the outside and keep it from distorting.

Glassing the deck while it is on the forms maintains the deck shape, allows you to sand to a fair surface and then glass that delicate finished wood surface protecting it from damage.

The building instructions cannot cover the all the pitfalls of diverging from the common steps of construction. Only experience can know the wisdom.

Solutions to problems are simple in thought.

Solving a problem in reality that does not create three new problems, now that's the trick!
