Joe,
I also built a Shearwater Merganser from plans 5 years ago, and agree that it's a great boat. I am now building a 17' Guillemot.

Out of curiosity, I studied the line drawings of the Shearwater Atlantic. The dimensions and section drawings of the 19' Atlantic appear remarkably similar to the Guillemot Expedition single. Given that the design purpose of the two kayaks is also similar, perhaps they paddle about the same, with some difference in tracking characteristics. Of course, the Atlantic also is offered in a 17' version. Eric Schade is very easy to talk to about his designs.

Chris

: I'm interested in any info on the Shearwater Atlantic. I built a Merganser
: from plans a few yeas ago and it's been great. Also did an sprey from a
: kit but want to try a stripper. I'm on the left coast and
: amalsoconsidering a Redfish kayak.
