: When fiberglassing the hull, do you wrap your initial fiberglass fully around
: the ends of the kayak? The stem pieces would then be laminated over the
: fiberglass of the hull, as opposed to being laminated directly to the wood
: of the hull strips.

: This is a current situation for myself also, as I am just finishing stripping
: my Guillemot, and plan on layers of ash for the stems.

I don't try to get fiberglass under the stem. I leave the ends a little rough before the initial glassing, don't worry much about getting the glass around the ends, then come back, clean up the ends of the strips, planing back the glass, before applying the external stem. Then I clean up the external stem and glass over it.
