and if you do attempt to make one by this method,

instead of making moulds from the plug and then building a yak from the mould - just put a release on the plug and directly make a heavy lay up on top of the plug, pop it off, seam the 2 glass halves together and then sand and finish the outside: (the plug is still usable for others) like no reason to make a heavey expensive mould unless major reproductions contemplated.

which (other than the popoff) is the exact same process that we all do here on the final glass surface of our stripper or s&gs - glass layup, fill coats, sand, maybe another thin fill or 2 - and then paint, varnish or lpu.
