A good friend built a bathroom counter from left over kayak strips. While not the most curve-intensive project, it curved up along the back to make an integral back splash, curved down in the front to give a nice radiused edge, and had a curvy profile along the front to match his curved cabinets. He built it over forms just like a boat (more akin to a surfboard, really) and glassed it. Looked really sharp in his house, but I guess one would have to like the somewhat contemporary aesthetic it produced.

Furniture leaves the door wide open for as much curvy complexity as you dare. Some examples: http://www.matthias-studio.com/

Then again you could just build another boat of some sort... ;)

: I have around 50 30' leftover mahogany strips and a few WRC strips too. Any
: suggestions on what to do (additional strips may be needed). Would really
: like it to be a somewhat smaller project as my Wife is complaining about
: the current kayak in the guest-room, and also that it be water-related,
: although that is not mandatory.

: My own thoughts are : -Surfboard (i don't surf, so it could be for
: show-n-tell, or for a gift or ?). But does anybody sell the
: "ribs" pre-cut (for a faster build)? I only found drawings or
: complete kits ($$$) on www.
: -A windsurfer-board, which is more popular here ind DK. We do not have
: big-waves here, but lots of wind. Ow! That kinda blew the idea about a
: "smaller" project.
: -Could build a "strip-cradle-boat" (i have the book+drawings) but
: nobody in the family is expecting.
: -Toolbox/closet/furniture - no thanks. Surface of the "object" must
: be a bit "curvy", which is what i really like about
: strip-building.
: -Kids-kayak - i don't think so. Need to build something non-kayak.

: Any other suggestions ?

: Thanks,
