I tried ripping with a bandsaw some years ago. Though there was little waste,
I encountered some waviness due to side movement of the blade ( 1/2"). Perhaps
others have had better results. My bandsaw skills have always been suspect.
I've constructed several strippers with wood ripped with a curcular saw with
fence. The blade used was a narrow kerf hollow ground planer. With practice,
this is a more efficient method than you might imagine. I especially liked the
fact that this operation was easily performed solo.
