: Thanks for the info, guys. No decision yet. I want to sit on it for a few
: more days and think about it. I'm leaning towards finishing the boat
: "as is". As a first building project, I've already learned a ton
: of stuff to improve the next boat, so I just need to shake the
: expectations that this one will be perfect. Not to mention, it will paddle
: just as well regardless of the errors.
: Thanks

Rick, glad to hear you're not making sudden decisions on what to do next. And that you already know that the next boat will be better. You got great responses from everyone here offering advice on how each builder may choose to handle the situation that you have. I'm one that thinks you should paddle this boat as-is for at least this summer and do the repair over the winter, while you're building the second. As it's been said, sanding the glass off is not very difficult, especially with an ROS and 50/60/80 grit. I've done this many times on models, and let me tell you, the next layer of glass goes on smooth after all that sanding. So, this boat could still end up perfect, but you don't have to fix it today, enjoy it while the weather's good.
Another thing that has been recommended on this board, for those who think there's too many visable mistakes on their kayaks (me included), is to invite a few friends over who have not seen your craft and watch their expression when they first see it. Listen for the first words out of their mouth. Chances are it will be "WOW"!!! (or "Holy Sh%#@"!!!) Most people have a difficult time imagining that you can build something so beautiful, that they don't even notice flaws. Try it, I did, it's a huge confidence boost. Enjoy your boat, and don't forget to post a few pics, when you get a chance.
