There have been some references to Putz's use of LARGE building forms for his kayaks, and the amount of plywood needed to make them.
I've redrawn the frame shapes from his book and translated the drawing directions he provides into simple coordinate points. You just graph the numbers. It is exactly the same shape, just a simpler way to describe it.
making Putz's forms as described in the book calls for 1.5 to 2 sheets of plywood. With these numbers you can easily make your forms as big or small as you wish. I've based them on making forms about 20 inches shorter than Putz describes. With a bit of care you should be able to cut them all from a 1/2 sheet of plywood. You can easily adjust the length of these and save a consierable amount of plywood, and the money needed to buy the plywood. It is also MUCH faster to graph these than to draw arcs with a big compass as Putz describes in his book.
check my webpage:

I did the same for the 18.5 foot walrus. those numbers are at:

Instead of using woodstrips for the trestle-style bracing Putz describes, you can use rectangles of 1/4 inch lauan plywood (they would be about 7 inches wide and 2 feet long) which are screwed and glued to the inside of the chines or stringers. Large holes drilled in these will reduce the weight, but they'll provide the same bracing.
hope this helps.
