It is a type of carpet. Look for "outdoor" carpeting. Sometimes this is listed as "indoor/outdoor carpeting", and at times people refer to it grass carpet or (quite incorrectly) as "astroturf". In fact, if you wander into the carpet area at a Home Depot and ask for astroturf they'll probably show you what you want.

It wears well on a concrete patio, and I've seen it used on miniature golf courses. You can wash it down with a garden hose to get rid of any mud which might tracked into the fibers.

Here is one link to a supplier. I've seen the same amterial at a much lower cost, and I think you can beat their price locally -- but print out their page and your carpet supplier will know what you want.

And DAP has an adhesive designed for attaching this material, too. They have some interesting information in a .pdf file relating to their product. They refer to these products as "artificial turfs" -- which may be a good generic term to use when you are shopping for the stuff.
