: In the Febraury 2003 Sea Kayaker magizine they had an artical about
: installing a foot powered Guzzler 450-S bilge pump.
: is the braket mount the way to go?

I thought the SK article was unneccesarily complicated.
Here's what i do.

I have the Henderson Chimp foot pump (excellent pump, sold by Valley Canoe Products), and mount it using the standard brackets supplied to an aluminium footrest bar (a piece of paddle shaft squashed at the ends and drilled to take a nut & bolt - standard 1970s technology).
Move the bar and pump up and down on the footrest mounts as desired.
The pump should have the ports top and bottom. Fit a short piece of tube to the inlet port at the bottom to end 1/8 inch off the bottom. Take the tube from the top to your deck outlet.

No strum box, 6 inches of tubing, simple, virtually nothing to go wrong.
I'll try to post a photo tomorrow.
