I used 3/4-inch long pieces of strips (cut from waste) as clamps to hold the strip being installed. I just stapled the strip piece up against the strip being installed. I used hot glue to hold the strip being installed. After the hot glue has cured, I remove the piece used as a clamp and used a new piece as a clamp for the next strip.

The photo below shows a short piece being used as a clamp on the hull. I did the deck the same way. On the deck however, in places where the strips were difficult to hold onto the forms, I used a “C” clamp in addition to the short piece.
