: Thanks, and I shall certainly do so. Since I am pretty handy with this sort
: of thing, I believe I will draw my own designs using India ink. I thought
: about doing the artwork directly on the wood, but worry about bleeding.
: But then, I worry about the same thing on tissue paper. I guess I'll just
: have to get myself down to the art supply store and see what they
: recommend.

Look for the tracing paper, vellum, mylar, or acetate which is prepared and sold for architectural drafting. These drafting "films" are designed to accept india ink and won't bleed. You can use a drafting pen,(Rotring, Koh-i-noor, Mars-Staetler etc.) or a calligraphic dip pen. Trim close to the edge of your design. Once the material is embedded in the resin you shouldn't see a shadow from the cut edge.

Here is a link to Dick Blick Art Supply's page which has Bienfang canary sketching and tracing paper.

Here is their blurb:

This lightweight roll paper is popular with architects, designers, and engineers.

It's perfect for developmental sketches, preliminary detail renderings, and quick roughs.

Reproduces well. 7½ lb sketching paper, 20 yards (18.3 meters) per roll.

A 60 foot long roll (20 yeards) of this stuff, 12 inches wide is US$ 4.29, and they go up to 24 inches wide for US$ 6.79. That is enough to do the entire bottom of three 20-foot-long boats. Something to think of if you should get REALLY excited about a design :)

Hope this helps.
