What I find painful is paddling with extended legs and toes pointed forward like a play boat. Bending the knees up 7 or 8 inches allows the foot to take up much less space in the bow of the boat without pain.

It was not until I read this post, Greg, and sitting on the floor, that I gained the insight about the foot space posts that ran a few weeks ago.
