: I'd suggest getting Yakima foot braces instead. IMO, Keepers are junk. The
: rails bend over time and the foot pegs pop off, always at the most
: inopportune times. I would never put them in a boat and if I ever buy
: another one that has them, I'll replace them immediately.

I've used both for years. The Yakima are definitely better material and seem nicer, but I have had some bind up so solid I had to take them out to break them free. Sand can be a real bear. I have had the Keepers pop loose once in over 10 years of use and while they can get stiff with sand, they don't seem to get as badly messed up. I find the Keepers easier to adjust with my feet while seated in the boat. When the footpeg did pop off the one time, I just put it back on. It was not broken.

I currently tend to use the Yakima braces, they are nicer, but I think they are only marginally better, and like many things the ones available now are not as good as the first pair I bought.

For people who don't find themselves putting a lot of stress on their footbraces I think the Keepers are good enough, and they may be better if you paddle from sanding beaches a lot.
