: I just bought 12 oz nylon (74 inches wide) from Dyson Baidarka, for a cost of
: $10.16 Canadian per foot (note - not metre), including shipping by regular
: mail to Ontario, 15% Ontario and federal taxes, and Canada Post handling
: charge of $5. There was no excise duty. This includes the exchange rate as
: well. The 8 oz would be cheaper. My experience with other goods from the
: US is that courier or UPS charges for handling are much higher, although
: they deliver a bit faster.

Hmm..

I believe the cost of material I bought in US$ for 12 oz 60 inches wide was $3.50 or $3.60 per foot last August, and the 8 oz 60 inches wide was $2.20 or 2.30 per foot in October. (Before the shipping and etc. which for me in Ohio was about $9.) Both orders were basket weave balistic nylon and about 18 feet long.

If I misled you about Canadian shipping it was not my intent. In addition, it sounds like the 74 inch wide material may be more expensive.
