: where did you get directions for a folder?

I started corresponding with Tom Yost back in the spring. He was curious about my first folder attempt, the failed PVC folder (still perhaps an idea with merit, but my execution was deserving of, uh, execution). We tried together to nab some of the unsupported urethane film that first light uses on their kayaks, but failed (this film would be wonderful for SOF builders, since it should be reasonably tough and because of its stretch, easy to conform to complex shapes). When I told him I was interested in copying one of his boats, he was most helpful. Paul from Conneticut (prefers his last name not be used on the internet) has already built one of Tom's folders successfully and has also been a help and encouragement.

I'm still a novice at all of this stuff, but am immensely impressed with the simplicity and strength of Tom's designs. Tom's been most helpful, but I have no idea how much coaching he wants to take on. If you wanted to build one of his, you should email him. I would be happy to help in any way I could.
