Strip: Cape Ann finally done! *Pic*

Well after 1 year to the day, it's done. I would never have thought that it would've taken so long to finish, but I guess at an hour or two a day that's just the way it is. This my first kayak and really my first woodworking project of any kind, so it's kind of a rush to see it through to completion. I wanted to thank everyone here for the kind advice over the course of the project, I couldn't have done it without the help offered here. It was especially helpful during those times when it just seemed to be dragging on and on. I'd come in read a few posts and head back into the basement later after everyone else was off to bed and start to work. The problem is that it's almost a letdown now that's it over. Does that mean I'm addicted now... maybe a nice canoe?

To the details of the boat, I used Red Cedar of course for the bulk of the boat, the detailing is a combination of mahogany, redwood, spruce and cypress. I carved a solid piece of walnut from my father-in-laws grove for the rudder block. He had the walnut log sitting in a dry shed for around 10 years, so it was nicely aged. The combing is a Carbon Fiber/Fiberglass layup and I'm using the SealLine rudder system on it. I borrowed the Leidy Lids idea for the hatch covers, I still need to work out the opening and closing of those. I'll be ordering a Joe Greenley seat over the winter.
