In Response To: Buying a table saw & router- help! (Kurt)

Hi Kurt -
Wow! Are you a descendant of someone named Pandora? You may have created the longest thread in months...asking us about choice of tools. I have a venerable and old Sears Craftsman table saw and it does a great job. They can be a good buy used, although I don't know what a good used price is. While I've replaced many tools over the years, my 10" Craftsman is still good enough. I use it to rip strips and anything else that need cutting.
On the subject of routers, more power is better and I have 2 plunge routers. The one that works absolutely great for cove and bead milling is the Porter Cable 7529. It's got tons of power, a dust port that you can connect to a shop vac hose and, most importantly, a depth adjustment dial that let's you micro-adjust your bit depth. This saves you a lot of brain damage when you have the router mounted in a router table for cutting cove and bead on strips.

Ok, that's my 2 cents.
