Any coating after varnish?

My Great Auk is ready for the water this weekend. I've always said that I wanted to get this boat into the water before the water got hard...last weekend we did get a little first snow!! But I think I'm going to make it.

The question at this point is ...should I put something on the boat as a protectant? I have four coats of Flagship, but I have this urge to put one of those silicone protectants on the boat. If this is crazy, please protect me from myself!

I have enjoyed this process, but I am ready for it to be completed...and move my car back into the garage so I don't need to scrape the windows each morning!!
