: I've tried pulling back the sheathing and overlapping the bungie. It ain't

: I have glued the ends of the shock cord into a wooden tube. The wood bit acts
: to hold the two ends together. I've no long term data on how this holds
: up.

too bad, but how about this

stretch the 2 bungees side by side like before, lets say each is 1/4 in diam., but before stretching thread on the covering of a similarly coloured 5/16 bungee say 2 in long or even large diameter - like whatever works choos. Pull down to one end of any one bungee.

stretch the 2 bungees and cut the covering off the far end of each so there is a 1inch free overlap and bare to each end. Intertwine all the little rubber strands as best as you can and whip off, maybe even consequitively cutting so that you get like a whipped scarf joint, not just cut at the end so theres a lump. cut off all the overhangs. slide down the larger covering and either melt on or CA.

the whipping will work as its a basic procedure, the psuedo scarfing will work as its just a modification of the whipping process.(well maybe - i bet something similar could work like you just whip part at )

but will the ravelling(good word!) of the larger covering work over the join?

maybe.

ps like what scott said and what i've played around with is that the bungee does neck when pulled real tight. If you then whip or shrink wrap or CA the covering, the bungee is still remains compressed after tension is released in the bungee. So if you just side by side whip, using CA or heating the covering toghether, then sliding over the shrink tube or say much larger bungee covering, you might get a semi ok result.

what the other process may allow is playing around w/ a thinner join or the intertwined pseudoscarf.

dunno
