I too couldn't see the dimensions, but this one looks much better for my eyes atleast. The angle of sides is actually good for stability - it gives much nicer feeling. Lower initial stability is not a bad thing if secondary stability is good. Gear will make CG lower so usually stability issues are worse without gear. So remember to check out the design without gear too. If you want more stability, reducing bottom's V will have slight effect or raising the deck will have more. Turning the sides more vertical will not help in every point of stability.

Edge turning should be okay, but some people might like the handling with skeg which kills the effect.

From the pic, it's not easy to see how (what angle) bottom and chine panels will meet at ends. In my opinion it should be as fluid as possible.

I would personally make the bow a bit less cleaving (less deadwood) to have larger part of the "vertical surfaces" in aft for handling feeling, but it's just personal feeling.

I could compare your design with some greenland ones if you send me the file. Email is toni.vakiparta(funny-char-here)pp.inet.fi

The link below shows the greenland kayak stuff I have...

: Btw, hard chines don't automatically give you good edge turning. I don't have
: the program on this computer so can't see the dimmensions but from a
: casual glance I suspect the waterline beam will be fairly skinny from the
: angle of the sides, makes for a tippy boat. Narrow boats sides need to be
: nearly plumb to have reasonable stability and to have them turn well
: (fairly gross generalization btw).
