: What is a good rule of thumb for the distance from the back band to the
: center of buoyancy? Bryan Hansel's website says 12 inches, is that a good
: rule of thumb? I presume the goal is to have the center of mass on top of
: the center of buoyancy?

12" to the backband is a good general rule. Then I like to add 3" to that total to find the rear of the cockpit (the distance from my backband to the rear of the cockpit in my Blunt). If you have the time, make a sit stick center of gravity device and you'll be able to place your cockpit exactly.
