Lloyd-- I think you're right that the factory cut edges are a good starting point and also that it's important to get good straight edges on cuts that you make. I've had one bad experience having the lumberyard cut plywood for me and unfortunantly it was plywood for a strongback. I could have made a better cut myself using a nail file.
