The Cape Charles is the first kayak I built over 10 years ago. (It's in the basement now awaiting refinishing.) When I was building it I was worried that I would wind up paddling a plywood box. The CC17 is a very comfortable kayak to paddle it tracks well, is reasonably fast, turns easily and responds well to edging. Good storage capacity for camping. It is quite narrow at the bow and will bury its nose in waves. I understand Jays comments about banging knuckles on the rather high deck; if I were to build another I would make the side panels about an inch lower in the middle and keep them the same at the ends.
