In Response To: Epoxy: Safe Solvent???? (Michael McCluskey)

: What is a good solvent to clean masking tape residue off of cured epoxy. I
: obviously don't want to damage the epoxy or affect future coats. I've been
: using alchohol but there is a slight residue that won't seem to come off.
: The tape was protecting the edge of the hull while I stripped the deck and
: has been in place for an embarassingly long time.

: Thanks for the help.

Acetone works well, although you should be cautious about the cloth you use to clean it with, as often people use old rags that have been washed with fabric softners ect, which will be disolved by the acetone and deposited onto the job. This may be what is being deposited when you use the alcohol.
