: What happens when you now use this canted technique with a wider paddle? The
: answer is that it accomplishes the same thing as it does on any other
: paddler, because the physics is exactly the same.

: Take 2 paddles A and B. Don't use the canted technique. If paddle A requires
: a higher cadence to achieve the same speed as paddle B, when both switch
: to a canted stroke, paddle A will still need a higher cadence.

Sure, I don't think I said anything different. What I was pointing out was that canted techniques produces more grip and a lower cadence with a given paddle. Other ways to reduce cadence - with or without canted technique - are to make the paddle longer and/or wider.

: The canted stroke is not magic. It does not eliminate slippage with a GP in a
: manner that that can not be replicated with another paddle. It is merely a
: way to improve your technique that most people don't notice the need for
: with a non-GP. Also the canting angle to accomplish the same thing with a
: wider blade is less. You do not need to cant as much to achieve a similar
: result.

I'll take your word for it, as I don't paddle with blades wider than 3.5" anymore.
