Hi Bill,

Shipping on plywood is insanely expensive, and while most online companies will post sample shipping costs they seem to be grossly under estimated. I ordered an aluminum/phenolic sheet for a project at work that cost just under $200 for 4'x10'x1/4". After crating, handling, and freight the total bill was $630.

For me, the only local supplier of okoume gets around $60 a sheet, and are about an hour away. Even if the wood was free, and I paid the bargain shipping posted online, my project would cost more than twice as much to order stock.

Get your stuff as close to home as you can, or buy it by the truckload, that is the only way to get a good price.
