: Hi all,

: I'm a real noob in canoeing - I live right on the waterfront and my
: neighbours last week gave me a canoe as they no longer used it. I have
: looked forward all week to going out in it but today, disaster struck! I
: am too tall to fit into it! Looking inside the canoe, there is a lot of
: foam floatation at the front end. My question is this - if I remove some
: of it (enough for me to fit in) would this affect the bouyancy of the
: canoe too much? As I said, I'm a complete noob so may be asking a
: ridiculous question... If you take a look at the picture, at the front end
: you can see the amount of foam in there, it's the dark markings inside.

: Thanks for any help
: Neil.

From the shadow in the picture it looks like the foam is a bulkhead for your feet to push on. It's designed to be trimmed to fit the paddler. Can't be totally removed btw, you have to fit snug in a boat.

Since the boat has no bulkheads and thus no floatation should have float bags in each end.
