you would be better off using rattan canes for that, bends really well with heat and keeps the shape, less prone to splitting. Maybe the nodes would be a little of a nuisance for the fabric wear.
Although somewhere i seem to have seen a picture of a folder with part of the frame in bamboo, was looking for it but i cant find it.

Anyone knows whats the situation of builders, commercial and not, in S.Asia, Australia and Japan? there bamboo its used for a lot of stuff maybe they already got to a good point with it.
