Here's another option to think about:
According to an internet search, your color "aubergine" can be acheived by mixing Rit dyes Wine and Dark Brown. This pic is a kayak dyed purple with Rit dye. I think it turned out pretty good. You can use the link to read more about how Darren M. applied the dye. Just a thought.... Good luck and post pics please!!!
