S&G: Quasi Strongback for S&G *LINK*

One Ocean Kayaks (see link) and "Kayaks You Can Build" both advocate a strongback of sorts for S&G on which carefully lined up cradles are attached.

These should take out the worry about a crooked keel or twisting boat.

The CLC's I built this year were done following the lining up with the eyes technique of "The New Kayak Shop" and the CLC manuals. I did not feel comfortable with that, but was successful.

I do believe that after this next S&G (A Bluefin that is started) I will build a stripper. So this can affect the answer.

Here are the questions?

Is is worthwhile building this quasi strongback I've mentioned.

First, in the case where only S&G are to be constructed (and maybe only one).

Second, in the case where I'll build a S&G and later use this strongback (does it adapt to stripper construction?) for a stripper?

The One Ocean Design can be expensive. A sheet of 3/4 inch plywood is $45.

thank you in advance
