Hey Kurt and CM,

I've used thin laminations of white pine to build the lip. Also used Douglas fir, red oak, walnut, and wrc. It looks good when you mix it up - alternating light and dark colors - then, on the outside, use a color that matches something on the boat that you want to highlight(deck c/l, sheer strips, keel/stems, design/inlay/onlay). Just one more thing to think about.
