I had 4 layers of glass up to two feet long on the stern and bow. Managed to chew right through to the wood on both ends and that was with a graphite coating. That happens because of those rocks and gravel beds I hit on the river. Interestingly enough, the rest of the hull is scraped and scratched but NOT through the graphite layers and I have indeed managed to get hung up on some nice braided gravel beds right under the cockpit. The graphite does work in the middle but not so well at the ends where the pressure points are finer.

One thought I have is that perhaps by using Cabosil mixed in with the graphite, then perhaps I could get a tougher finish. What are your thoughts on this? I have noticed that Cabosil is very tough to sand, much more so than epoxy or epoxy/graphite.
