it's all coming back,,I think I followed the instructions about glassing the fineweave tape on both sides,,and seeing how marginal it was because bubbles developed in the tape as it was clamped on the table surface. So I sanded the tape off on the outside after the hull was glued up and before glassing the hull,,,it was a bit irritating to put something on only to take it off. I think I sanded the tape off the exterior forward butt joints and not at others so there's a couple joints with faint impressions of bubbles,,there aren't bubbles there but it's where the glass was sanded through and the epoxy in the underlying wood had soaked it up differently. One of those things you have to be 6" away to discern.

In retrospect I'd rather put on butt blocks than use tape butt joints just because it's easy to taper/sand wood and you can put a brick on the wood. If anyone gets a chance to check out CLCs Arctic Hawk kit you'll be blown away by the substantial layering of glass on the interior to making a glass butt joint.

When I first glassed the Coho it had one layer of 4oz s-glass on the inside and outside,,it was surprisingly flexible standing in the completed hull rocking the coaming around and seeing the bottom flex around. I put in another layer of 4oz in the cockpit and exterior bottom "foot ball" after that. I think for a light construction having a ring of a butt joints through the middle of the cockpit wouldn't be a bad idea if one was using less than 6oz cloth in a large hull.
