: I intend to build a Cirrus hybrid. I already have the s&g plans. This year I
: built a CLC Ch17 and the construction was fairly simple. The plans for the
: Cirrus call for a strongback to be built. I am wondering if this is
: necessary. My Ch17 is very accurate and tracks like a train using saw
: stools and winding sticks. Any opinions on the need for a storgback?

I'm building a Grebe hybrid for my son, instead of a strongback I installed two bulkheads and deckbeams fore and aft of the cockpit and then added extra deckbeams where required, I sawed 1/4" thick strips of oak and bent them to the correct radius using a heatgun then notched them into the sheerclamps, you then have the option of removing them or leaving them in after the deck is complete.Worked well for me.
