Thanks to all that replied. I think what may have happened is poor mixing when I first layed the glass. When I later applied filler coats, this made a hard outer shell. This would explain what it was cured on the outside, but not under the glass. I'm trying to get to the point where I can do my end pours this weekend if the weather is nice, so it will probably be next week before I learn to patch.

I'm usually pretty good about mixing well, but may have been in a hurry when I did the outer hull. The exterior hull was my first glass job and I didn't calm down till the second coat. 8*)
