If you have a lot of sag you need a stronger strongback. That said, if your strongback is not perfectly straight, set it up, mark it's position on it's supports (so you can always place it the same), and run a string down the middle of the side. Mark where the string crosses each station line. The string and marks, which are straight, becomes your reference water line.
