Wynne, I have used Hypalon on 11oz twill-weave nylon on just one boat so far. It's a very durable combination that I'm happy with, but I'm considering other alternatives for my baidarka which will be ready for a skin next month. There are a lot of good choices out there, such as a lighter weight nylon or Dacron, or a translucent two-part polyurethane. Then there's good ol' canvas and paint.
