In Response To: carving a foam seat?? (Terry)

Terry,

I used a wire wheel on the portable drill. A flap disk works, too. It makes a rough surface. Then, I have a rasp which has been heated orange-hot and the tip bent over, for gouging curves. It shapes the surface nicely. I kind of like the rough look, and didnt sand it any smoother.

Also, awhile back somebody posted that if you take a 1-1/2" hole saw and cut through the seat, right where your "sit-bones" are, it's more comfortable. I did that, and not only is it more comfortable, it's easy to tell when you hit 1/2",

: Does anyone have suggestions for tools to use shaping a foam seat?
: I've started using an angle grinder with 50 grit disc, but I can see it will
: get tough to control as I get deeper.
: Can anyone post a pic or description of sharkskin?

: To indicate when I've got down to 1/2" I plan to put 2 saw cuts on the
: bottom of the seat from the back to the middle. I hope this will work?
: should also provide drainage.

: TIA Terry
