I can't say which one is stronger, but my experience with both indicates it doesn't matter. I would imagine that the plywood is stronger given the properties of it. However, I've seriously abused my strip canoe with little harm to it. Instead of strength, think of other factors when choosing. The strip boats are much more beautiful and can take on more complex designs. The plywood ones are quicker, easier, and cheaper to build.
