In Response To: Strip double suggestions (BruceK)

: I am looking for suggestions for a strip built boat along the lines of a mill
: creek 15. My kids (4&7) want to join me on flat water trips, and a
: relatively small double seems like the best way to go. Last year I built a
: Coho, which is fun, however this time I think that a strip built boat
: would be good for a change of pace. Any suggestions out there? The only
: doubles I have seen for strip building have been 20' long monsters - I am
: thinking more of a day boat that would be easy to store & launch.
: Thank you for any thoughts on this matter.

Personally I think a 16' open canoe is the best choise. a child can easily learn to use a singel blade paddel. Canoes are also more stabel and the kids has more room to play in if it gets boring.

When they get older they can easily step up to sailboats, kayaks or what ever.
